Cost & coverage

What you'll actually pay.

Here is the honest lay of the land by payer. Two things decide what you pay: whether your plan covers Spravato, and whether we participate with your plan. We confirm both for you in writing before anything is scheduled.

We open October 1. We are pursuing participation with these plans, and none of it is in place yet. Everything below describes how each payer treats Spravato. It is not a claim that we are in network with your plan today. We tell you exactly where we stand with your specific plan, in writing, before you commit to anything.

MO HealthNet (Medicaid)

Often the strongest coverage in the room.

Missouri Medicaid plans - Healthy Blue, Home State Health, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan - regularly cover Spravato with prior authorization, and patient cost is typically zero to a few dollars per visit. Whether you can use that coverage here depends on our participation with your specific plan, which we confirm for you in writing before anything is scheduled.

Commercial insurance

As little as $10 per treatment, up to an annual limit.

Most commercial plans (Anthem, UHC, Cigna, Aetna) cover Spravato. The manufacturer's savings program (Spravato withMe) can bring commercially-insured patients to as little as $10 per treatment. By law it can't be combined with Medicaid, Medicare, or TRICARE.

The $10 is capped, and we will not let you find that out later. The program covers up to $8,150 in eligible out-of-pocket costs per calendar year, and that amount resets every January 1. When you hit the limit, the $10 stops and you pay your plan's normal cost-share until the calendar year turns over. Because we open October 1, a course starting this year gets three months against this year's limit before the reset. Your projected cost, and the month the limit is likely to run out, go in writing before your first treatment.

TRICARE

Covered with prior authorization.

TRICARE covers Spravato for treatment-resistant depression when criteria are met, and spouses and adult dependents count. Copays vary by plan type. We confirm your plan, and our status with it, in writing before anything is scheduled.

Medicare

Covered in many cases.

Medicare covers Spravato under Part B in many cases; supplemental coverage changes what is left. We confirm your exact situation, including whether we participate with your plan, before anything is scheduled.

Self-pay · at-home

$99 to find out. Refunded if it's a no.

The at-home program starts with a $99 clinical evaluation, fully refunded if you don't qualify. Program pricing is published at launch - monthly and all-inclusive. Clinic self-pay rates are quoted in writing before you start.

The part we own

Prior auths, denials, appeals - ours.

The dirty secret of this category: most denials die because nobody appeals them. In published data, the large majority of appealed denials get overturned. Where we participate with your plan, we file them. That is the job.

Areas we serve

Two counties, one clinic - care across the greater St. Louis metro.

Brain Recovery Centers is based in Chesterfield, just off Chesterfield Airport Road, and treats patients across St. Charles County and St. Louis County, in person and by telemedicine. We sit close to the county line on purpose: if you're coming from St. Charles County or from anywhere on the St. Louis side, you're in the right place.
